Archery Club
It's not Hunger Games, or Robin Hood, or even the Olympics; but you could get there from here.
The purpose of the club is to introduce students to the life-long sport of Archery. Some may become members of our competition team and go even further in competitive archery while others may develop a hobby they can enjoy for the rest of their life.
Everyone starts off in the same place. They shoot the same type of equipment on the same range. Where they end up depends on their interest level and effort. There are state and national tournaments if that is what they want, but students are not required to compete; only those who want to do so, but it is available to all.
The Archery Club is open to all students at Tallwood High School; from students who have never been on a team before to star athletes. It is designed for students of all genders, ability levels and backgrounds. The program is designed to teach International Archery style target archery in 9th through 12th grades. It is the same curriculum used in the PE classes to maintain consistency in instruction. Our core content covers archery history, safety, technique, equipment, mental concentration, and self-improvement.
For the students: THIS IS FUN.
For the parents Yes, they do have fun, and this program positively influences student attendance, behavior, self esteem, confidence and on task behaviors.
