International Business and Trade
The ultimate goal is to give students the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to understand the causes and implications of the rapidly changing structure of international markets. Study topics include:
1. National differences in political economies and cultures as well as ethical issues inherent to international business
2. The political economy of international trade and investment
3. The global monetary system
4. Strategies firms adopt to compete effectively in the international business environment and how firms practice key functions such as production, marketing, research and development, human resources management, accounting, and finance.
Students will apply knowledge gained to participate in discussions, business case analyses, projects, and the culminating project: taking a company into a new international market. We will have guest speakers, field trips to international businesses and participate in international video conferences as the opportunities arise.
